The office was extremely quiet last week. But I understand because there had been a lot going on in prior weeks: facilitating the sign-up sessions for spring sports, getting students' paper work and various forms prepared; such as physical forms, eligibility forms, parent consent forms etc. This week however, was very different since everything had already been taken cared of. My supervisor was rarely around because she had to go to a 'state-wide' athletic director conference. Every year, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) holds a five-day conference in which all athletic directors in MA have to attend. Therefore, she left work for me to do along with a list of instructions. As a result of her absence, the athletic department's secretary was appointed to supervise me for the remaining week. Although my athletic director was not present, she called regularly to see how things were in the office and if there had been any progress in my duties.
On my lunch break, as I was going through my hours, I realized that I have three weeks and twenty-six hours in total left at my internship! I cannot believe how fast time goes by. I was a bit relieved but at the same time a little sad because I'm having so much fun working here. I could definitely see a drastic change in myself from when I first started this internship: I communicate more with other workers, I'm not as shy and reserved, I'm always looking for more things to do, and I'm simply just a happy team player. I wish I didn't have to leave so soon. Is it possible I could go up to 180 hours? ( just kidding). For the mean time, I'm just going to continue working hard and there's no doubt that when my supervisor gets back next week the office is going to be “crazy” again! But I'm fully prepared.
