At my internship, I have been given a very work intensive task by my supervisor. In my first couple days I helped out the Cambridge Historical Society by removing chapters and scanning pages of their numerous journals or books to put them into a digital form. It isn't the most appealing job I will be doing for them but it does help them by finally completing their goal of putting all these books into a digital form. In addition, I have learned a large amount of the history of Cambridge from around the time of the Civil War to earlier times. I did like that I was helping them to become "modern" and learning about all this stuff, but it is very tough to read so many articles in a day.
In addition to helping them scan the journals, I have also helped them with some of their marketing strategies, for example, some of these news letters, website, logo and color scheme. They had asked me to take a look and see what I thought could be used to improved and what I liked. These things were mostly what I though looked good and appealed to me, but my supervisor had also asked me to start thinking about ideas and designs because I will be helping them work on a new part of their website and making them digital tours, etc.
I would like to help more on the digital aspects of the job, but I think that I still need to learn a few things from them to understand what they would really like to see and what they don't. I would say that my first week of my internship was successful because this is a type of job that I could see myself doing in the future.
