Internship Week 3

I do not have much to report on because I was sick last Wednesday and my site had yesterday (Monday) off for the holiday.

On Monday I encountered an issue that many journalists run into. I was asked to call restaurants the week before to find out if they had any special events or menus for Mardi Gras. Some of the restaurants responded right away and with everything they had going on. Other restaurants were not as compliant (whether they were busy or had not finalized a menu) had taken down my phone number and said they would get in touch later. I found that you do not always get everything you are looking for after a phone call (or 3). It is important to have back up resources and more information to work from, then to struggle to pull together information.
In relation to our discussion last Tuesday, I find that I have many fears that hold me back. Much of my fears are related to confidence and "not being good enough".  I am trying to combat these fears by getting a better feel for my environment and challenging myself with new experiences. I am currently working on creating a pitch for the upcoming print edition of the Weekly Dig.
