More Events

This week at my internship was amazing. It was all events that I had to help out with. All these events took place in the Microsoft New England Research and Development building, also known as the N.E.R.D. Center, in Kendall Square. The first night was known as Mass Innovation Nights which is an event for a select group of startups to present there ideas towards an audience and the best get to showcase as a presentation in the showroom. It was a great event with lots of networking and conversation. I met other businesses as well and got to see many great ideas being presented. This place also was very futuristic looking I even took a video with my iphone. It had beautiful furniture and dining. It had an industrial kitchen and tables that were giant interactive tablets you can use like an ipad. We actually got very creative with our setup and removed the table completely and set up a relaxing chairs and tables for people to relax and talk to us one on one about our products. We even had wine and drinks for people stopping by.

The next night was Boston Beta which was a really cool event and I actually met the founder at Mass Innovation the night before. This event was hosted on the top floor and had an amazing view!

This was a more casual event setting with startups. A lot of cool ideas for social networking to clothing to instant bath tub heating. Some really great concepts. We actually set up the art with this event for this start up. Since my previous internship was at a gallery I was in charge for setting up the artist with their paintings in direct zones. We had some trouble as they were going to change the lighting later so we had to imagine and accommodate especially since there were going to be over 400 people at this event. I had to direct artists how to set up their paintings and where to put them as well as coordinate the QR codes for the pieces and set up the artists where they can be exposed to the most people without danger of anyone knocking over pieces.

Overall, these events were wonderful and I had a great experience. I almost had the opportunity to go to TEDx in New York City this past weekend but unfortunately it didn't work out. They do a lot of New York events so I am sure I will hopefully be able to do that at one point. So far I am really like this internship as they are becoming my mentors and are inspiring me to reach my true potential and goals as well as letting me lead to how I know best. I could see myself in this environment or something similar. This also aligns with what my personality test has been saying. So far So Good! :D
