As we may have all been aware, the end of the semester is soon approaching and graduation is very near. I've put the job searching on hold in effort to focus on my upcoming final exams, papers, assignments etc. I recently paid a visit to my former internship supervisor, and some other co-workers. I initially went to collect my evaluation forms but she insisted that I should have her and the others take me to lunch. So, myself, her, the supervisor, and another co-worker went to eat at a restaurant called SnS. We sat and spoke about a variety of things- current events, incidents at the school, graduation, and how my job search was coming along. Afterward, we drove back to the school and my supervisor had a one-on-one discussion regarding my evaluation. I liked the idea that we were able to sit and discuss my strong and weak areas. We've had the same discussion a few times but it was a good opportunity to meet up again.
On another note, I recently had an interview at a high school in Boston, for an Athletic Director position. I wasn't too happy to be honest. The interviewer interviewed me for like literally 3 minutes. And I can distinctly remember the three questions that were asked: 1) What is your experience working with kids? 2) Why do you think high school athletics is important? And 3) What do you consider some areas for growth/ development?. I guess I was mainly disappointed in the fact that I had put in so much work into getting ready for this opportunity: transportation costs, my expensive get-up/suit, and even the fact the I dedicated half of a day to practice for the interview. I studied for this interview like I was studying for a major exam- I went over the description over and over again and pretty much read through the organization's website. But oh well...I've come to the realization that I can look at this experience as an opportunity for growth, and it prepares me for other interviews for careers in the future.
