Conference Call Review

Last week, my supervisors and professor sat down for a conference call review. It went much better than I had originally expected. I had been experiencing some feelings at my internship for a couple of weeks since working there a lot during spring break. I had wanted to talk to my supervisor about them, but I did not think I would get the chance (the previous week, my supervisor had been at a conference for most of my shift, so I only saw her for ten minutes).
After the staff meeting, we actually had time to talk before the call. I had talked to my supervisor about my concerns concerning my worry about producing work in a timely manner and not feeling connected to other co-workers. My supervisor told me that I actually produce work quite quickly and were impressed about my timeliness. This made me feel good because I had been feeling quite distracted at the computer and found myself watching videos on YouTube a lot instead of working on my projects. In addition, my supervisor was not aware of how I felt about some of my other co-workers- it was nice to communicate my concerns to her so they were out on the table.
After the conference call happened, my supervisors and myself talked for probably another half and hour. I had never had this opportunity to talk to them like this in the past, and I certainly got a lot out of it. My supervisors told me certain strengths which I possess and this has helped me with my current job search. Overall, this continued to prove to me how much communication at the workplace is vital in order to solve problems; even though it is a little scary because you don't know how supervisors react, it is usually better in the end.
