This week was only one day instead of two. I actually commuted in from this week and it was actually a busy day. The first thing planned for the day was our first interview for a new intern. I prepared by looking over her resume and seeing any details I could maybe look over or bring up along with questions and other things.
When Amelia finally got up to our office Dan was not at the office just yet. I brought her on a tour of the office. We had some light conversation before Dan showed up to the office and we had our interview. When Dan showed up they started to proceed with the interview. I wanted to more oversee because I know Dan knows what he is looking for. We did both get plenty of eye contact and attention from her. She had a lot of experience as she knows multiple languages and has worked oversees. She was telling us that she went to school for business and worked in business for a few years and recently came back to grad school in Boston. She communicated that she wanted to move away from financial fields and branch more into non profit and the arts. I really admired her to follow her passion.
After the interview I walked her to the elevator and we spoke somewhat about her path so far and what we would like to do at some point. I voiced that I wanted to try and move to Los Angeles before the Fall. She told me to try it. She inspired me to reach for my goals more so. The result of the interview was overall great. She offered her services to help manage fundraising for the business as we will need it but we wont be seeing her until the summer as right now she is finishing her grad program. It will also be on a project basis. I felt accomplished as I had set up the interviews and scheduled everything. It was quite a project searching for new interns.
We worked on other things after the interview was over. We later had our conference call and had kind of realizations during the call. It was also an enlightening experience as we had everything out in the open and it was cool to see what we thought of each other. I felt that day we got closer as work partners more than supervisor and intern. Overall it was a good day.
