Week 9

I did not have my internship yesterday due to the marathon. Last Wednesday I felt like I was trusted with more work than usual. I was given a few articles to upload to the website, I finished a long piece of mine, and I worked on a few shorter pieces for my manager. I enjoyed being busier, because usually I have a lot of down time that I would spend on social media sites. (My supervisor also complimented on the work I have been doing and said that opinion pieces are my "bread and butter"). I have realized that I enjoy working in an environment where I am more engaged in the process. I prefer a balance of alone time to get my work time and time to interact with coworkers about what needs to get done and how it should be approached.

 As the semester is wrapping up, I feel like I have learned a lot about myself and I have a better sense of the field I want to go into. I do not think I want to go into journalism down the line. I tend to be more successful when I am given something to write rather than finding something to write about. I am still struggling finding a news piece to cover.
